What is Wild Goat Coin?
Wild Goat Coin (WGC) is a permissionless, omnichain digital asset designed to move freely across blockchain ecosystems without reliance on centralized issuers, custodians, or corporate governance. Its supply, liquidity, and interoperability are structured to function independently of any single chain, foundation, or intermediary.
WGC prioritizes long-term usability and resilience, positioning itself as a neutral, borderless currency.
Introducing V3
The launch of WGC V3 in Q2 2025 marked the transition of Wild Goat Coin from an experimental multi-chain token into a fully unified, omnichain-native currency.
Earlier versions of WGC were Solana-native assets that later expanded to additional networks using wrapped-token bridges. While this enabled early experimentation, it introduced fragmentation, custodial risk, and operational complexity.
The V3 upgrade eliminated these constraints by adopting an interoperability model that maintains a single global supply across all supported networks.
Omnichain-Native Architecture
Transfers between chains occur via a burn-and-mint model, where tokens are burned on the source chain and minted on the destination chain. This approach:
- removes custodial risk
- avoids wrapped token representations
- preserves full fungibility across networks
As a result, WGC functions as a true multi-chain currency rather than a collection of linked assets.
Permissionless Markets
WGC V3 is deployed across dozens of networks, while permanent core liquidity is intentionally concentrated on three primary chains:
- Base
- HyperEVM
- zkSync Era
New markets can be created permissionlessly, enabling the community to deploy liquidity, establish trading pairs, and expand WGC’s presence across supported chains without centralized approval.
Transition from V2
Wild Goat Coin originated as an experimental memecoin conceived on Solana in late 2023.
The WGC V3 upgrade launched on April 5th, 2025, with a direct 1:1 airdrop to all wallets holding 1,000 or more WGC V2 at the time of the snapshot.
This threshold was applied to ensure an efficient and reliable migration process, given the wide historical distribution of WGC V2 through earlier nominal-value, promotional airdrops.
Support for earlier token versions has been discontinued.
